Kia ora e te whānau,
Last year, we surveyed some of the people who signed our petition calling for Bob Jones’ knighthood to be revoked to ask: What should we collectively do next?
One of the things you told us was to campaign for New Zealand and Treaty history to be taught in all schools. Many of us believe that through education we can plant the seeds of a more inclusive and manaaki-based future for our children and mokopuna.
Do you support New Zealand history being taught in all schools and communities?
PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION:
As Ben Okri says in his book A Way Of Being Free:
“Nations and people are largely the stories they feed themselves. If they tell themselves stories that are lies, they will suffer the future consequences of those lies. If they tell themselves stories that face their own truths, they will free their histories for future flowerings.”
Let’s plant seeds.
Sign the petition for Tiriti and NZ history to be taught in all schools and communities.
By signing this petition, you’ll be adding your power to a chorus of calls from historians, teachers, students, hapū and iwi.
With hope and action, in a generation’s time all of us will understand, value and act to honour Tiriti o Waitangi in everything we do. That starts with education, and you.
Please sign today.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Renae and Laura
