Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, admitted to sexually abusing students while coaching high school wrestling. This petition is to have the Board of Governors for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame immediately remove Dennis Hastert from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.   Based on evidence that has come to public attention by Mr. Hastert’s own admittance of guilt, all records of his should be permanently removed from the Hall of Fame. Failure to do so would be a disgrace to the Wrestling Hall of Fame, coaches, parents, and wrestlers throughout the world. Dennis Hastert admitted to sexually molesting minors, later illegally making arrangements to pay one of the victims to keep him quiet. In October 2015, Hastert pleaded guilty to one count of illegally structuring bank withdrawals to avoid reporting requirements, admitting in a plea agreement that he had paid $1.7 million in cash to the victim to cover up unspecified misconduct from decades earlier. Because the statute of limitations ran out on the sexual abuse, Dennis Hastert was sentenced to only 15 months in jail. This petition is to have the Board of Governors for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame immediately remove Dennis Hastert from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He does not represent the best the sport has to offer, and represents the worst breach of trust an adult, let alone a coach, could do with an athlete.
