There is no harm in signing BOTH petitions because they're for the SAME thing - an Integrity Commission or Federal ICAC and a Code of Conduct with an Ethical focus. There are TWO different Bills BEFORE our Parliament RIGHT NOW!
Australians WANT a Federal ICAC! It matters NOT which strong and RETROSPECTIVE Integrity Commission is PASSED by our parliament - as long as it's NOT Christian Porters Claytons Bill!
Being a South Australian, I don't know Helen at all but she has the support of the other cross-benchers including the Greens - who introduced previous Indi Independent MP Cathy McGowan's amended National Integrity Commission Bill 2018 (no 2) (this petition) - to the Senate in Sept last year.
I saw Helen on the ABC's Q&A last Monday and I was impressed with her sincerity. I believe she really cares.
Helen's Bill includes a Parliamentary Code of Conduct for Politicians.
BOTH Labor AND Liberal MPs REJECTED a Code of Conduct in August THIS year! DESPITE Julia Gillard PROMISING the Independent MPs and Greens who ENABLED her to form her Minority Government in 2010 that Ms Gillard as PM would introduce a Code of Conduct - this NEVER happened.
While we DON'T have a Federal/National Integrity Commission or Federal ICAC we will continue to get the likes of Robodebt, Sports Rorts, sales of water for millions of dollars to Corporations while our rural people and farmers get none, people thrown onto JobSeeker barely surviving below the poverty line.
Because such decisions lack Integrity and are UNETHICAL!

BOTH major parties have been complicit in PREVENTING us having one!
As part of Ms Haine's Bill there will be Whistleblower Protection - so that decent and honourable Australians like David Mc Bride who 'Blew the Whistle' on the atrocities in Afghanistan - only going to the ABC after all the avenues within the ADF to have anyone care were exhausted - will not be threatened with prosecution and gaol for doing so!

Are these the kind of dealings we want our Politicians to be involved with? And to cover up?
