Fund Acne and Acne Scar Research

Fund Acne and Acne Scar Research

The Issue

Acne is the most common skin disorder affecting over 60 million people each year in the United States. For some acne sufferers their acne leads to scarring.

Research shows that acne has profound psychological effects that lead to psychological disorders and suicide (Sundstrom, 2010).

Unfortunately, acne lacks public funding. Current funding is limited due to the non-life-threatening nature of acne.

If you have ever had a pimple you know the frustration it can cause.

This petition will be sent to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to:

1. Include acne and acne scarring as a condition to the already 265 research, condition disease categories. https://report.nih.gov/categorical_spending.aspx

2. Allocate more funding and further research of both the pathogenesis and treatment of acne and acne scarring.
