Wang Od is a 92-year old woman who is from the village of Buscalan in the province of Kalinga in northern Philippines.  She happens to be the last Kalinga tattoo artist.  According to specialists this practice is about a thousand years old and was used as a skin natural language transmitted from generation
to generation.  She has been visited by many foreigners in her small village to have her make them tattoos and has been featured on the History Channel.

However, Wang Od hasn’t got a family that can inherit her skills.  She wants to teach her grandniece but she lives in the modern world.  Wang Od is the last of her kind.  She has kept this tradition alive for most of her life and she would like to live to be more than a hundred years old and to continue tattooing.  

She is well-known around the world but most Filipinos do not know that she even exists.

She deserves to be honored and recognized as a Philippine National Artist before she passes away.
