Videos have gone viral showing NYPD police "assaulting, attacking, and arresting" people within communities of color - while extending "courtesy and masks" to those within white communities! 1000 police have been dispatched in the name of "social distancing" to insure people remain safe, as the city attempts to bring a pandemic under control. But what was seen on video - was NOT police "keeping anybody safe". There were vicious beatings, attacks unprovoked, and arrests without cause. And many of these officers have not been disciplined, charged and remain on assignment, while city officials and the commissioner of police attempt to "ban protesting" altogether.
A threatened "ban" on the right to protests immediately following "viral videos" depicting police in the BLACK COMMUNITY "attacking, brutalizing and arresting" those who take exception to being "beaten upon" or made to witness such SAVAGERY by police - is nothing than CONDONEMENT of the ACTS COMMITTED by POLICE! It seeks to curb all interest and concern by SILENCING those OUTRAGED at what they've witnessed. And to have taken NO ACTION against these officers in the FULL KNOWLEDGE of LAWSUITS which were filed against some depicted in video - for the exact same abuse we've all witnessed is "proof positive" BLACK LIVES DON'T MATTER! Not even during a PANDEMIC where the MAJORITY of lives lost are BLACK!
To have FULL KNOWLEDGE of this and send these officers into the very same community DYING ON A VAST SCALE from this VIRUS, on the pretense of "enforcing social distancing" and witness the BRUTALITY exhibited on video and "ban people" from either protesting or speaking out concerning it - is TYRANNY in the making! There is NO PROTECTION being offered here from any VIRUS! And no legitimate reason to enforce "a social distancing policy" by use of POLICE who are themselves VIOLENT. The acts of city officials in the face of BLATANT DISPARITIES on how police use "courtesy and politeness" for one group of people and "brute force and savagery" upon another, depicts a willingness to allow RACIST ACTS by POLICE! For not "one word" has been spoken to address OR correct it! So blacks across this city have been disrespected because the "racist acts" committed against these people by POLICE have gone IGNORED.
So we must be clear on who is creating "racial tensions" within this city, as well as the "point and the purpose" for police being sent into OUR COMMUNITY. We are neither protected "by them or from them" and city officials have told us to be SILENT concerning all they themselves have witnessed and seen was done. How long shall we "watch what they do" and "hear what they say" before we believe "no good" do they intend concerning us? And if we know these things to be true - why do we yet DELAY in a demand nationwide in scope?
