Today, The Scientist ran a news story on our petition asking to The National Academy of Sciences to remove members found guilty of harassment, assault and retaliation. In the story, an NAS spokesman said there are "no provisions" to strip members of their privileges. No provisions? This is weaksauce, NAS! There were no provisions for women to vote until we made provisions. It's time we raise the bar for what we tolerate in academia and kick serial predators to the curb. We need you to help spread the word over Twitter, Facebook, ravens...whatever you use. Our goal is 500 signatures this weekend to force the NAS to get some provisions that reflect our values.
