Approve Food Trucks in Nassau County Residential Neighborhoods

Approve Food Trucks in Nassau County Residential Neighborhoods
The Issue
There has been a few complainers in the area who have nagging the local police about Food Trucks being in neighborhoods to the point where Nassau County is going to attempt to put a stop to the Food Trucks being in residential neighborhoods, including HOAs. This is going to cause these local families with their business's to start fleeing the area and seeking support elsewhere.
Unfortunately, some food trucks already know of a neighborhood with complainers in them and refuse to come to this neighborhood as they don't want the police called on them. An HOA president doesn't enforce a law in their HOA rules for no Food Trucks but 'picks and chooses' on what does and does not go in the neighborhood.
Several times, officers have come out and enjoyed a meal at the food truck and agreed upon the positive effect these Food Truck have on the community and how it doesn't cause a disturbance at all.
Building ‘community’ within your neighborhood is of utmost importance. Working together with your neighbors helps make everyone feel like they belong. With a common sense of ownership, more residents will be likely to participate because
their interests are at stake. Many homeowners I have met over the past few months due to the interactions during the "Food Truck Weekends" have been nothing but joyful. People are meeting other neighbors they have not met before, making friendly bonds, getting to know each other and learning their backgrounds.
Bringing the community together will create better interactions and a sense of "being involved." Everyone wants to feel like they are involved in something. Whether it be their voices heard, a party, or a neighborhood event. “Ten voices are louder than one.” In a team, you can focus your interests and your efforts on the things that are most important to you. In the end, the community will be much more successful.
Too often, people do not even know their neighbors. A neighborhood organization gives everyone something in common. Merely getting people introduced to their neighbors will affect improvements in untold ways. In the same way that the residents benefit by working together, a group provides a larger forum for communicating.
Creating pride is something so basic, yet so important. Neighborhoods can easily fall into disrepair and despair. However, when people care, you will be able to maintain and improve that place that you call home. Many homeowners, which I now call friends, have shown such interest in Food Truck events to the point where they like to set up events and invite everyone in the community to come chat and meet new friends, which enjoying delicious food from local companies.
As Food Trucks have been a big interest in our community, I would like to share why they are a improvement in any community. These mobile restaurants have come a long way since ice cream and hot dogs, with trucks today running the gamut from gourmet cupcakes to sandwiches to ethnic fusion street food.
These Food Trucks create an event in our community to bring neighbors together for a friendly meet-up. It creates interactions within the community so neighboring families get to know one another. I have met some friendly people at the other end of the development who have lived in the same town as me when I lived up north.
We shared stories, had friendly interactions, and laughed along while eating delicious food from our local Food Trucks.
These Food Trucks do more good than harm, if any.
As people look forward to a meal from a different culture every two weeks while meeting with friends in the neighborhood, they have gained something better every time they show up. And that is FRIENDS.
Every time the Food Truck event happens, we meet someone new, and not once was there any sort of discomfort or problems when attaining these events.
It helps bring the community together, it helps local families who run these Food Trucks support themselves and their families, it brings outsiders into the community to spark their interest incase they may want to live in this development, it shows that WE as a community get along and set up events for surrounding communities. It creates friendly gatherings for birthday parties, holiday events, and social gatherings.
These food trucks do not cost the HOA a penny. Those who enjoy eating the food with friends and having fun, come out every time. And those who are not interested, stay home for the time being. Those who choose to stay home, are not affected by this event at all. It does not lower the cost of their home and it does not create a disturbance in their lives.
The Food Trucks have put a positive effect on our community and this petition is to show that many people in our community and surrounding area would LOVE for them to be accepted into OUR community, Nassau County.
