

Dear Supporters of Trying to Save Galilee,
Channel 12 News did a most recent update on Galilee. Sadly, it shows that a Plutocracy is alive and well in the State of Rhode Island. After PRI X (James Procaccianti and Joseph Paolino) intentionally abandoned the hotel they owned, the former Lighthouse Inn, the building eventually had to be demolished. It is a very sad State of Affairs in regard to what has happened in Galilee. How can anyone or any agency (the RIDEM, the Governor's Office, the RI Attorney General's Office) in their right mind support the gross malfeasance that was caused by James Procaccianti and Joseph Paolino who owned the Lighthouse Inn on the RIDEM leased land? Procaccianti and Paolino were responsible to maintain their hotel as was outlined in their prior lease with the RIDEM. In fact, the RIDEM terminated its prior lease with PRIX as the RIDEM determined PRIX was grossly negligent. The Town of Narrgansett ordered PRIX to demolition the building, and then PRIX sued the Town of Narragansett in stating PRIX did not own the property. However, I pulled the property record card, and it clearly showed PRIX owned the building. The Town of Narragansett should have countersued, but the Town did not. The State and Town of Narragansett Building inspectors determined the building, the former Lighthouse Inn was unsafe, and it had to be demolished. The RIDEM then paid over 1 million dollars to demolish the building. Why did the State have to pay for the demolition as the building needed to be demolished due to the intentional neglect of PRIX. On Procaccianti Developers website it is noted they overee 10 billion in real estate investments. Why do we (the State of Rhode Island) allow corporate billionaires to create tons of waste, and then they are awarded with a 20-year street level parking lot lease? Are people being paid off? Something stinks in Galilee and throughout RI, and it is NOT the fish. The demolition of the Lighthouse Inn caused tons of solid waste. The RIDEM terminated the prior lease between PRIX and the RIDEM as PRIX intentionally neglected their hotel. If this was you or I we would have been fined, brought into caught, and face criminal prosecution for intentionally neglect for causing environment degradation, reckless endangerment , and causing environmental harm. Rather than prosecuting PRIX, the RIDEM awards Procaccianti and Paolino with a 20-year street level parking lot lease. The State Properties Committee for the State of Rhode Island approved the lease. I was beyond belief when the State Properties Committee approved the lease to a corporation that harmed our environment. It is very ironic and deeply troubling the RIDEM supports such gross malfeasance at the hands of corporate billionaires. And the Rhode Island Attorney General's representative, Greg Shultz, said we should make a deal with PRIX as otherwise the State would get tied up in court. So the RIAG is basically saying one can break the law in Rhode Island, and if one has enough money the State should make a deal with a law breaking company regardless of the harm the billion dollar developer that was created by the company. Environmental degradation is when humans create environmental harm by neglecting their building. Environmental degradation is exactly what James Procaccianti and Joseph Paolino created in Galilee. RI. The consequences that result in environment degredation is that it causes harm to our environment and the surrounding area. The Town of Narragansett put forth a viable mixed-use development for Galilee, that would have enhanced Galilee such as a boutique hotel, a Maritime Museum, a Galilee Grocery, housing and a community center, a biome center for children to learn, possibly a maritime playground, and a consolidated parking garage, but what do we get instead: PRIX gets a lucrative 20-year street level parking lot that will take millions away from the State of RI and the Town of Narragansett and the money goes into the pockets of the corporate billionaires, and we get a grass field filled with grass, some rocks and plantings, and seagull crapping in the area. The latest updated news story on what has happened on 5 acre parcel is discussed in the below news article. Please note the news article failed to say that PRIX intentionally abandoned the hotel it owned, and that PRIX caused tons of solid waste that has harmed our enviroment. The news station also failed to say an RFP was generated by the RIDEM, and the Town of Narragansett responded with a mixed use developement that was most in line with the goals of the RFP. It also failed to note the RFP had goals, and that it was seeking proposals that would create a development that would help the State of RI, the Town of Narragansett, and the commercial fishing industry. How can the awarding of a 20-year street level parking lot to corporate billionaires help the State, the Town of Narragansett, or the fishermen, and a small portion of the overall land will be covered with grass, some plantings, and a big rock filled with seagull crap? Thank you all for fighting for what is right, and for your support for this petition, but sadly, the corruption is very deep in the State of Rhode Island.
