The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management rejected all the proposals submitted, but they awarded a 19-year lucrative parking lot lease to Procaccianti Developers. In addition, the RIDEM has stated it wants the taxpayers of Rhode Island to demolish the hotel Procaccianti abandoned and left it to become uninhabitable. Please remember Procaccianti Developers has over 10 billion dollars in investment assets. He is a slumlord Billionaire as his company created one of the worse eyesores in the United States in a seaside village.
This upcoming Monday, April 18th, 2022, Coucilwoman Dr, Ewa Dzwierzynski created a Motion for the Town of Narragansett to file a Access to Public Records to the RIDEM, so we can see who determined the Town of Narragansett's Proposal was not viable, and also to see who in the RIDEM awarded the 19-year parking lot lease to the slumlord. It is insane that the RIDEM is awarding a lease to the former developer who failed to keep the terms of its prior lease. The RIDEM is awarding a company that should have been fined and faced with sentencing in court for creating such a precarious and dangerous building by neglecting it. Now, the RIDEM is awarding the slumlord with a very lucrative parking lot lease that did not go out to bid. In addition, with Procaccianti being awarded the parking lot lease, it would be difficult for anyone else to bid on the two smaller parcels still available.
I therefore posted this letter on social media to our Narragansett Town Council Members:
Thank you, Dr. Ewa Dzwierzynski for putting such an important motion on Monday's Narragansett Town Council agenda regarding the access to public records request to find out who authorized the behind the scenes deal for the RIDEM - Procaccianti 19-year parking lot lease. The RIDEM awarding a behind the scenes lease without it going out to bid to a slumlord multi-billionaire who created one of the worse eyesores along a seaside village in the United States should be fought at every level. In addition, the RIDEM failed to be transparent, it rejected the Town of Narragansett's Proposal without just cause, so we need to know who and why the Town of Narragansett's Proposal was rejected as it was the only viable plan for Narragansett. Dr. Ewa Dzwierzynski, you have earned my vote in the next election. I feel you have earned the votes of many more. I will not be able to attend the meeting, but I will hope it gets the unanimous support of the entire Narragansett Town Council. Any town council member that does not fully support your motion should not be reelected.
The following post was sent to our local state representatives and senators:
Dear South County Representatives Teresa Tanzi and Carol Hagon McEntee, and Senators Alana DiMario and Bridget Geraci Valverde: It is now more important than ever that each of you make time out of your busy schedule to attend Monday's Narragansett Town Council Meeting and show your support for Dr. Ewa Dzwierzynski's motion for the Access for Public Records request in order to obtain complete disclosure on the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management's Ruling with respect to not selecting the Town of Narragansett's Proposal by failing to properly review the proposals for the 5 Acre Parcel and for the awarding of the 19-year parking lot lease to Procaccianti Developers. If for whatever reason you can't attend due to family or personal obligations, please send a letter to the Narragansett Town Council to show your support. We are fighting a war in the Ukraine as a result of liberties taken away from the people of Ukraine. In a Communist or Socialist Government, the local communities are at the Mercy of the Federal Government and its Governmental Agencies who usurp the power from the local government and its leaders, its residents, and its businesses within the community that harm and not help the cities and towns for the greed of the corrupt National Government and Governmental Agencies. I am sure each of you ran to make a positive difference in South County and Rhode Island. The above fight for justice for Narragansett does not only affect Narragansett, but the entire State of Rhode Island. If a State Agency can abuse its power by imposing its unjust decisions that will support a Multi-Billionaire who has trashed its property without consequence and violated the terms of its lease, and then require the State of Rhode Island to pay for the demotion of the property and also award the company with a behind the scenes lucrative 19-year parking lot lease, then the State of Rhode Island is setting a dangerous precedent in condoning the abuse of power by a Governmental Agency. In addition, if our elected officials sit back and do not express their outrage, that too is setting a dangerous precedent in that they are sitting back and doing nothing. As the United States and its elected officials are standing strong in helping Ukraine and its citizens, we need our elected officials to stand strong with our local elected officials, its appointed leaders, its residents, and its businesses, and all those who love Narragansett. Let us still have "Hope" in Rhode Island, so our Motto does not become "Hopeless".
