D'Angelo's music has been a beacon of comfort and joy in my life. In times of sadness, his soulful melodies lifted my spirits, while during joyful moments, his rhythms fueled my happiness. His music has become more than just notes and lyrics; it has been the soundtrack of my life and the lives of countless others. D'Angelo's influence transcends the ordinary, cementing him as one of the greatest soul musicians our country has ever known. As a four time Grammy winner, as well as having 14 nominations- his legacy as one of our country’s greatest soul musicians deserves recognition.

Given D'Angelo's incredible contribution to music and culture, it is fitting to honor him by naming a street in Richmond after him—a city closely associated with his journey and growth as an artist. Richmond, being his hometown, holds a special place in his heart and in the hearts of many fans, making it the perfect place to commemorate his legacy.

Naming a street after D'Angelo would not only recognize his achievements and devotion to the art of music but also inspire future generations of artists in Richmond and beyond. It symbolizes the spirit of soulful creativity and the transformative power of music. There is also a call for a mural- even a statue to commemorate our own legend. 

We urge the City of Richmond to consider this tribute. By doing so, the city would be paying homage to a native son who has excelled and inspired on a global scale.
