Carol Roe - Justice for Julieka
Jul 27, 2017
Dear Supporters , this is Shaun the uncle of Ms Dhu again. There are really really scary things happening in Kalgoorlie at the moment. There are reports and urgent messages for help coming from Aboriginal people there. Since the trial of Elijah, mums and kids have been organising rallies in support of poor Elijah's family. They are incredibly hurt about the justice system not taking a young kid's death seriously. But now the there are reports police are getting pay back for the rallies by tracking down mums and kids with unpaid fines. We saw a message from one woman who spent two nights in lock up for a dog fine. THIS IS HOW MY NIECE - MS DHU DIED. For unpaid fines. I am beyond disgusted and quite frankly - I'm scared for our people there. The National Justice Project have been made aware of the situation. The Copwatch fundraising campaign finishes in 3 days - there has never been a more urgent time to get this training to communities. It's not just about the video training. It's about the human rights lawyers having relationships with mob so they feel supported, so they feel like the whole world is watching the police with them. Please donate so it gets over the line in the final days: https://chuffed.org/project/copwatchnjp Please help- there is not far to go. And please keep the Aboriginal people in Kalgoorlie in your hearts and minds. Sincerely Shaun
