Julia Anne Sutherland, owner of HWLM Horsemanship, was intrusted with the care and training of 4 year old Jasper, a previously wild mustang gelding. He was set to her for just more miles on the trails, and instead was met with abuse and neglect. His owners tried to get updates and pictures on him, and those they did get were strategically angled, and even showed an unknown man riding him. Not until they informed Julia they would be taking him back did the updates and reassurances about his condition start to roll in. Upon arrival back, Jasper had gone from slightly chunky, to over 100lbs underweight, showing his ribs and hip bones clearly. Not only underweight, but Jasper is riddled with cuts and scrapes, with rope burn on his pasterns, displaying clear depression and anxiety with endless pacing and lack of interest in people.

And this is not the first time horses have suffered at her hands. The BLM is sending her a shipment of 20 wild mustang yearlings for a training challenge, even after investigating the incident and brushing off Jasper as acceptable practice. Half those mustangs will be staying at her facility through the duration of the challenge, under her "care".
