The impact on a child that has  had a safe and loving relationship abruptly removed from them, must not be underestimated.

They may be wondering where is grandma/pa? Don't they love me anymore? Did I do something wrong? When are they coming back? These experiences will not only impact on children today but also later in  their lives, on a their sense of security, trust, identity, self worth and the feeling of being rejected. I understand these experiences so well as someone disowned by a family for over 40 years and still suffering from the consequences.

Grandchildren are innocent in this battle in which contact is denied. They rely upon the trusted people they live with, their parents, and this may mean clinging to relationships, even when they are toxic. What choice do they have? 

I believe our campaign will go a long way to ensuring children do not grow up feeling abandoned, that they have the right to safe and loving relationships. 

Today I had a catch up meeting with many who are supporting this campaign and I am pleased to say that we are making in-roads! We have hope and will keep going, until those that have the power to change things are moved to action.  This is about children today and in the future.
