Statue being erected 17 Jan 2021 despite pending objections and complaints

Citizens have raised objections since Dec 2019 to the erection of statues on traffic islands on public roads violating Supreme Court Order on SLP(C) 8519-2016 dated 18.1.2013. The statue now being erected on Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk is in a heritage area where objections have also been lodged with the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The statue for personal aggrandisement with shoddy construction and haphazard work site is unbecoming of a great city and should be relocated to a private site.  All photos were taken on 17 Jan 2021
