Petition updateMultimillion Dollar Breastmilk Empire Sues 70 yo FounderMilk donors across the country have felt the sting of this lawsuit.

Paid milk donation is a meaningful way to earn money for families across the country. I know, because I started this program when I was a milk donor.

I had seen that milk banks are generating literally MILLIONS of dollars in profit, and giving nothing back to the milk donors they rely on - and I wanted to change that. I didn't agree with Prolacta CEO, Scott Elster as he was quoted in this WIRED Magazine article:

"We have to make it altruistic," Elster says. "Otherwise, there'll be a picture of a mom on the front page of The New York Times saying, 'I sold my milk for crack.'"

Prolacta later launched their own paid program.

I felt that women who want to sell their extra milk deserved a better, safer way to do it. So we started The Mothers Milk Cooperative and launched our paid program, Milk Money. This was the first time since WWII that a paid milk donation program existed in the US.

How does this relate to the lawsuit? Loss of income for nearly 20,000 women over the last seven years. Late payments for donors, and payments that are STILL yet to be made.

I will not walk away from my commitment to our community, but this lawsuit needs to STOP. It hurts donors, it hurts babies - and it has hurt me and my family immeasurably.

Please share this petition FAR AND WIDE. WE CAN DO THIS.
