The culture must change.

Again, this movement has shifted to more than just mobile vending. It is about a poor culture set by our city council. Unfortunately, the amendment to the ordinance was passed. Fortunately, it is showing the community the true values that our council members have. We will be better educated when it comes time to vote on a new council.
The meeting can be viewed in the recording below. The main take away from this video is that City Council believes they run this city and they don’t report to the citizens.
1:04:30 starts my comments of the poor culture of our City Council.
Some of the statements:
Ending Mayor, “We let you talk 3 times now”
- No, Mr Armstrong you didn’t LET me do anything. It’s my right to speak and it’s your opportunity to listen.
11:40 Mike Holt, “just sitting up here ‘yip yip Yap’. You need to slow down and listen. You need to know what you’re talking about because this city councilman knows what he’s talkin about.”
- belittle a citizen on record, because they are bringing forward a voice that you disagree with.
- it’s not our job to listen. IT’s THE COUNCILS JOB TO LISTEN.
11:30 Mike Holt didn’t even know he sponsored the amendment. Just blindly proposed what the Mayor handed him.
1:12:00 Troy Barr, used an example of food trucks parking on the road, causing a safety issue.
- This example is already covered in the original amendment, using it to scape goat the amendment.
1:14:00 Troy Barr, “I don’t know who would want to take on that liability, without a permit.”
- Government overreach. Assuming we do not have the capacity to make our own educated decisions, so the government makes it for you.
1:16:00 Mayor, “we are not going to have a pedophile come in here and we don’t know who they are or where we can find them.”
- The assumption that a food truck vendor has a higher chance of being a pedophile than a typical restaurant waiter is degrading to those food truck entrepreneurs. This background check requirement should be enforced on EVERYONE in the city if you truly want to “protect the citizens.” It’s a scape goat attempt at discriminating against mobile food vendors.”
1:16:53 Mayor, “Hunter, you’re not in Louisville. You’re going to put up with this council.”
- So the Council doesn’t report to the citizens, the citizens report to the council?
1:17:45 Mr Gentry, “there are 19,000 people in Mt Washington. We should listen to just 500?”
- corrections 323 signatures are 40047. 154 signatures from the immediate area. The remainder submitted an address outside the area. (And this issue only started 2 months ago.)
