We are writing to you about Afghan women and children — not as headlines, but as human beings enduring quiet suffering that rarely reaches the front pages anymore.

Afghan girls who once dreamed of becoming doctors, teachers, and journalists are now barred from classrooms. Mothers struggle to feed their children as malnutrition rises. In many communities, women have been pushed almost entirely out of public life. For children, especially girls, the future has narrowed in ways that are difficult to comprehend.
