Major General Aleksandr Kolesnikov (Retd) has made the following unequivocal statements in the documentary film titled "Subhash Chandra Bose: The Mystery" premiered on Discovery Channel on 18.07.2016 at 9:00 PM IST:-

1) “I am a supporter of the view that it was a disappearance.”

2) “All those materials which concern state secrets as Purabi Roy discovered during her investigation in various archives are closed to researchers.”

3) “Personally I think there was some secret pact about Bose between USSR and Great Britain. Why do I think so? Because Great Britain jealously followed what was going on in India. And, it could not leave the situation there uncontrolled. The disappearance of Bose, it's difficult to call it a death; I support the view that it was a disappearance.”

4) “I think that after the death of Stalin the whole concept changed. Therefore the attitude towards Asia and India also changed. I have doubts if the Soviet Union needed Bose, if this version is to be believed. But after Stalin's death he was not much of an asset for the Soviet Union. Bose was useful during Stalin's time.”

5) “If there is an official request from India, personally to the Russian President that will be the only way to get all the answers.”

Major General Aleksandr Kolesnikov (Retd) does not seem to be making conjectures, rather his views are most likely to be based on secret information drawn upon secret Russian archives. PM Narendra Modi must personally engage with President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Government of Russia to declassify all "closed" files on Netaji.
