Petition updateJeremy Corbyn please recognise the true cost of Brexit

ELECTION 12th DECEMBER ! ! !

Jill BrianAlton, ENG, United Kingdom
Nov 1, 2019

Boris Johnson has his early Christmas present by saying he will rule out a no-deal Brexit and still refusing to allow a People's Vote because he says it would be undemocratic !!  He now says he wants to deliver Brexit by January 31st 2020.

Parliament are now in campaigning mode especially Nigel Farage and his Brexit Party. He thinks the only proper Brexit is a complete break from the EU and Boris Johnson's is not good enough for him. He also talks about our voting system needing updating. I never thought I would agree with him but I do think our First Past the Post system does not give a true picture of what people think.

The Liberal Democrats have also come out quickly with their Revoke Article 50 message.

The Labour Party are promising a People's Vote and have suggested that 16 and 17 year-olds be allowed to vote as Brexit will affect them most. Their campaign is focussed on the NHS and Care Services, Education, Housing, Transport , Climate Change and Businesses. They fear that Brexit will lower standards of safety, make international crime more difficult to combat, deter students from studying in Europe, make goods more expensive and their evidence shows that the economy is likely to shrink significantly for some years after Brexit.

The Conservatives have said they want to get Brexit out of the way so that they can concentrate on the NHS and getting new trade deals. Some have said that they worry that the Brexit Party and UKIP ( who both want Brexit ) will take limit the number of people who voted Leave in the 2016 referendum from voting Conservative.

Now is the time to lobby your MP to tell them what concerns you most. They can be found at www.parliament.uk Members of the Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet, also the Members of the House of Lords.

Best for Britain www.bestforbritain.org and People's Vote www.peoplesvote  also have a tactical Voting tool so you can choose an alternative Party if your usual one is unlikely to succeed.

If you want to vote early or might be away on December 12th, contact your local Council for a Postal Vote.

Students need to make sure where they are registered to vote as they may also need a Postal Vote to ensure they don't lose out.

This election will be very important as it could change the fate of the UK far into the future.
