Last week I received a call from Shadow Attorney General, John Pesutto. He had heard of our Petition and wanted to let us know that their proposed reforms would enforce Minimum sentences for serious and violent criminal offenses. Under this reform, Cooper would have received a 20 year MINIMUM sentence. But it didn't stop there. Upon seeking permission from our family, Shadow Premier Matthew Guy, asked the Andrews Government how they planned on responding to and supporting our Petition. He asked this during question time. I heard Pop's name spoken in State Parliament. It was emotional, to say the least. This is a step in the right direction. In fairness, I have asked the Andrews Government for more information in relation to the proposed Standardised Sentencing guidelines and how that would prevent anyone else going through what our family has. This would not have happened without of all of you. I am in awe of the fact that 30,000+ people have been willing to sign this petition and that that has happened in a little over a week. You couldn't possibly know what your support means to us. All I can say is a simple thank-you, it doesn't seem nearly enough.
