Plastic bags can be a threat to human health and environment. That’s the reason the government banned plastic bags below 20 microns. It has been 12 years but this ban has not been implemented in my town- Mumbra. I have been living in Mumbra, a beautiful hillside town near Thane for the past 20 years. But my town is slowly becoming a big garbage dump. Everytime when I step out of my house, I don’t see anything but plastic bags all around. I want to change this.

That’s why we started this petition asking the Thane Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Aseem Gupta to implement  ban plastic bags under 20 microns of thickness.

All that needs to be done in Mumbra is a strict implementation of the government ban by imposing fines and creating awareness.

The Thane Municipal Corporation has an an effective Waste management system in the neighboring areas of Thane and Kalwa. I want them to do the same for Mumbra and Kausa.

I, alongwith the Mumbra Voice Foundation have already submitted many letters to the Thane Municipal Corporation, but nothing has been done so far. Thousands of people signing the petition will show Mr Aseem Gupta that there is an urgent need to implement this ban.

The waste management in Mumbra-Kausa needs an overhaul. Join me in asking the Thane Municipal Commissioner to implement the ban on these plastic bags without any further delay.
