UPPCO ANNOUNCES IRP PUBLIC MEETINGS WITH ONLY 5 DAYS NOTICE! WITH SHORT NOTICE UPPCO THINKS PUBLIC INPUT WILL BE MINIMAL. PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND!
Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) is holding a series of Stakeholder Forums to receive public input leading to the development of its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). UPPCO’s plan will be filed with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) in 2018.
An IRP is a process that is used by a utility to evaluate how it will best serve its customers’ future energy needs. The process is transparent and utilizes predictive modeling to evaluate several resource options that meet the future energy needs of the customers. Examples of the questions that will be answered through the IRP include:
How much generation will UPPCO need to meet the future needs of its customers?
When will additional generation resources be required?
What renewable energy resources should be included for the future?
What opportunities and risks need to be managed to ensure long-term price stability for UPPCO customers?
Stakeholder Forums will be held at four locations throughout UPPCO’s service territory between 3:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time on the following dates:
January 9th: Terrace Bay Hotel – 7146 P. Rd., Gladstone, MI
January 11th: Finlandia University Jutila Center – 200 Michigan St., Hancock, MI
January 16th: River Rock Lanes Banquet Center – 1011 North Rd., Ishpeming, MI
January 18th: American Legion Post – 610 W. Munising Ave., Munising, MI
Customers and interested Stakeholders will have an opportunity to meet with the staff who are involved in UPPCO’s IRP process, as well as representatives from the company’s Regulatory, Generation, Energy Waste Reduction (EWR) and Customer Service departments.
