OCT 19, 2017 — Warriors take note! WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW! Be a badger among lions! The big issue right now is a new law mandated plan on how the Upper Peninsula gets its power. This mandate is called Integrated Resource Plan or IRP for short. We want FAIR rates coming from electric sources that are efficient and green such as hydro, wind, solar, gas and biomass. The same old game is not the answer. For example, affordable hydro electric from Canada coming in at Sault Ste. Marie would eliminate the need to build 2 expensive, gas fired plants in the western Upper Peninsula. These proposed plants would actually RAISE customers rates. The Canadian plan could lower rates substantially. A premature MPSC approval of 2 new gas fired plants that benefits the Cliffs' mines more than the consumer should not go forward because it puts a large, unfair, financial burden on residential ratepayers.
