Gary here...Everybody take a deep breath! We need to put pressure on UPPCO and the next direction we are going to point the spear is urging the Michigan Attorney General to open an investigation into UPPCO's billing practices. We are discussing other options as well, stay tuned for more updates as they become available. We all have to stay focused and involved. It will be a long, tough fight but we will never prevail if we lapse into apathy! BE A TENACIOUS WOLVERINE! Bernie sent the following e-mail to Bill Scheutte, Michigan Attorney General. We suggest that each and every one of you do the same. In your own words would be better but, feel free to copy and paste if you wish, using your name and address, of course. Send it to: miag@michigan.gov
Mister Schuette,
My purpose in contacting you today is to respectfully request that your office investigate Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO), it's billing practices as well as the ever higher charges per KWH to their customers. The MPSC just approved another major rate increase and went far above that recommended by an MPSC Judge. Why is that?
UPPCO is the highest priced electric utility in the Upper Peninsula, and in the entire State of Michigan, as I understand it. They have outsourced their billing department to an Arizona company and it has been chaos ever since, with customers going months without receiving a billing and then getting one with a thousand dollars plus due, for example. This is out of control and the people cannot continue attempting to pay such rampant charges.
Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
THANK YOU WOLVERINE WARRIORS!
