MPS: Change Board Policy No. 2265

The Issue

We, the concerned members of the Moore Public Schools community, recognize the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for student-led initiatives. However, we are troubled by the existing policy distinction between "school clubs" and "student clubs" outlined in Board Policy No. 2265. This division leads to unequal treatment and limited opportunities for student-driven organizations. We urge the Moore Public Schools Board of Education to amend Policy No. 2265 to eliminate the differentiation between "school clubs" and "student clubs" and promote fairness and equality for all student organizations.

We respectfully request that the Moore Public Schools Board of Education amend MPS Board Policy No. 2265 to remove any language or provisions in Policy No. 2265 that differentiates between "school clubs" and "student clubs." All clubs - whether initiated by students or the district/school administration - should be treated equally and provided with the same opportunities and resources such as funding, meeting spaces, equipment, and administrative support.

By amending Policy No. 2265 to eliminate the distinction between "school clubs" and "student clubs," the Moore Public Schools Board of Education can demonstrate its commitment to supporting student-led initiatives, fostering leadership development, and promoting inclusivity within our school community. We urge the board to prioritize the interests and voices of students in this matter and work towards creating a more equitable and supportive environment for all clubs.

Please sign this petition if you believe in equality, inclusivity, and supporting the right of our youth to lead, foster and build community in the city we call home.
