Currently USC’s women’s volleyball games are being held in the Volleyball Center (practice facility) that only seats 1,600. Home games this season are selling out and the facility is reaching maximum capacity causing tons of fans (Carolina students and middle and high school volleyball players) to be turned away at the gate. 

Volleyball as a sport is showing huge growth in popularity across the nation. Nebraska recently held a volleyball day and hosted it in their football stadium and it SOLD OUT. Other SEC schools are hosting their games in their basketball arenas, allowing for much larger crowds. For comparison, Carolina’s Volleyball Center seats a mere 1,600. A few days ago, Florida hosted Wisconsin (in their basketball arena) and had over 10,000 in attendance. 

The Carolina Volleyball team deserves to play on the same big stage. And all of their fans deserve to be able to attend games. Carolina can not grow as a volleyball program if they do not recognize the growing popularity of the sport and take steps to grow with it.
