An Update on Graduation Plans
Hi everyone,
As we've reached over 1000 signatures we thought we would be the appropriate time to give everyone an update. After speaking to Matthew Searle, the Head of Student Engagement, we have a few bits of information to share with everyone.
Here is a direct quote from Matthew on why the venue has changed "As part of a routine review of health and safety measures in Founder's against updated guidance, we have to reduce the capacity of the Chapel which has made graduation impossible to deliver fairly and equitably. We have looked at a number of options which places graduands at the heart of their graduation ceremony. Founder's will still be available as part of the graduation experience."
Whilst it is still extremely disappointing that our graduation will not take place in the chapel, it is seemingly unavoidable, and Matthew has assured us that the ceremony will still be beautiful.
Addressing students not being told earlier or being consulted Matthew said this "Students were not consulted on this change as it was a direct response to health and safety guidance."
We also want you to know that we are trying to arrange a meeting with Matthew and his team to discuss the plans for the structure further, the timeline behind all of the decision making, and try to lobby for plans and designs to be released earlier, or get a specific date for students to look at out for the plans. As soon as we have more information we will pass it on. Enjoy your weekend everyone :)
