One of the defenses I used as a UBF defender (I was "Mr. UBF" at one time...) is the claim that the stories of abuse and criticism are just the evil work of one or two bitter former members. Well, I have met those "bitter" former members. They are in fact some of the most awesome people I've met! They are not bitter (well ok maybe a little from time to time) but are instead trying to get UBF leaders to listen to their stories. One of my goals for this petition is to demonstrate publicly that there are not just 1 or 2 people saying these things about UBF, but that there are in fact many people from many UBF chapters around the world--all noticing the exact same harmful behaviors and human rights violations. Will we get 100 signatures? I'm not sure. Many former members want to remain anonymous, and for very good reason. UBF has initiated a lawsuit against at least one former member in 2007. I for one will take that risk, and I hope you will to! In just over 24 hours we have 17 signatures! So we already proved in 1 day that the criticisms against UBF are not just "one or two".
