Remove the egg from your chicken style pieces

Remove the egg from your chicken style pieces
The Issue
Morrison's have just taken a huge backwards step, removing their meat free chicken style pieces from sale and then reintroducing them with a new and 'improved' formulation which now includes egg.
They were one of the only readily available vegan friendly chicken pieces in a high street supermarket and contained huge amounts of protein and were an excellent easy meal choice for many.
Now, they are no longer suitable for vegans, or indeed anyone with an egg allergy.
We challenge Morrison's to reconsider the decision to add a dose of cruelty into their meat free pieces when it is entirely unnecessary and is what set them apart from their competitors, including Quorn.
Why should you avoid eggs?
The egg industry is one of the most inherently cruel industries, regardless of whether the chickens are raised 'free range' or not. At birth, male and female chickens are separated, with female chickens being sent off to two years of intensive egg laying, often in horrendous conditions, whilst baby male chicks are either gassed or thrown alive into a grinder to be killed. They are known simply as a by product of the egg industry - worthless and of no value. Hens have the tips of their beaks chopped of with no anaesthetic to avoid them pecking each other to death when they are crammed together in small quarters. A chicken’s beak is loaded with nerve endings, more sensitive than a human fingertip. Many birds die of shock on the spot after this. After just a couple of years of the same vicious cycle, they are sent to slaughter and often boiled alive whilst still conscious.
