Luke Howarth has committed to a HUGE $5m towards the RESTORE OR REBUILD of the Pavilion if re-elected! He also wanted to thank each & every one of us for making a STAND on not letting our precious building just be turned into grass!
The mayor also spoke today and said that the $5m will only be used towards the building itself- so none of that money will go towards the gardens, the testing or anything else but the building itself! He said the building that is restored or rebuilt will be somewhere we can all eat, drink & dine including toilets and showers like their used to be- like we all want!
Well, what an amazing outcome! Thanks to everyone for all your help, without it we would not have been able to prevent this beautiful old heritage building from being a victim of the wrecker's ball. But the struggle isn't over yet. Yes, we have some funding, but what we want is far from assured. We need to stay in the fight and make sure that the building's history is protected, its heritage values retained, and the hospitality services offered are kept for generations.
