For all of you wanting to help... here is what we need! Help us to raise funds for campaigning to save the Pavilion! Also a Quick Update on what your committee is doing to help!
So what have we ACHIEVED so far?
CAMPAIGN MATERIALS. You have probably seen the following now on the go
• SIGNAGE- some down at the Pavilion & placed at strategic locations around the peninsula
• STICKERS- these are so popular we may need another run!
• T-SHIRTS- these are on order & we should get them this week
• LOGO DESIGN & group campaign image
SOCIAL MEDIA- establishing a presence on all the major platforms & monitoring the pages
• Instagram- @save_suttonsbeachpavilion
• Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/groups/savethepavilion
• Twitter- @sbppg1
PETITIONS- once we realised council would not accept our online petition, we organised a paper petition in the official MBRC format. We have a team of volunteers gathering signatures regularly at the following venues- Outside the Pavilion, Redcliffe Markets, Showground markets
& various businesses around the peninsula!
To get these going there has had to be a degree of organising in the background!
• Rosters
• Insurance for our volunteers to be at the markets
• Printing, clipboards, lanyards etc
We estimate that so far we have between 3-4000 of the paper signatures. At the moment we haven’t set a date for submission to council- we are reviewing week by week!
EXTENSIVE MEDIA COVERAGE
• Channel 7 news- 5 nights on the evening news!
• ABC Radio
• 4KQ
• 4BC
• Courier Mail
• Moreton Daily
• Redcliffe & Bayside Herald
Making contact with FAMOUS REDCLIFFE PEOPLE for video reels and media interviews.
• We have organised a BUILDERS GROUP to do their own independent assessment of the building- Bruce is compiling a report of their findings. This is a massive exercise and so important for our discussions with council.
• We have engaged with some HERITAGE EXPERTS who have made several submissions on our behalf.
• We have been LOBBYING various members of the Queensland Government to halt the demolition, covering the situation from various angles.
• We have ENGAGED WITH COUNCIL and have people speaking at the next council meeting and our own meeting with Council to discuss the Pavilion is scheduled.
• We have been COMPILING STORIES on the HISTORY of the Pavilion and community stories of ‘WHAT THE PAVILION MEANS TO ME’
• We have applied for necessary permits for a RALLY on 20th February and are busy lining up speakers and entertainment
WE HAVE ANOTHER BIG WEEK COMING UP- THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!
