More than 10,000 of us are fighting to save the historic Suttons Beach Pavilion - this is huge! Thanks to your incredible support, the council has now opened community consultation about the proposed changes to the building; but the focus is still on demolition, rather than restoration.
Please continue sharing the petition in your community groups to keep the issue on the agenda
As a community, we are troubled by how this building has not been appropriately maintained. As the building owner, the Council should have been ensuring yearly restoration work to maintain the historic building. It is the Council’s lack of an appropriate management strategy that has resulted in the current situation, and we won't let them off easy.
To ensure historical accuracy, there needs to be community consultation as to what best preserves the historical aspects of this site, maintaining the Iconic look and feel of the area, and how the site can benefit the community further before any future development plans by council are finalised - should the structures be deemed unable to be repaired.

Further consultation with established community groups, oral histories from long term residents, the museum, historical archives and photographic and video footage, and conversations with the traditional custodians of the area have not occurred.
We need to communicate to the Council that Sutton's beach is not just a budget constraint to the Council, but an important part of our community that we will fight for.
Thank you
