Pets are family. Period. 

There needs to be something done in Southern Manitoba (I'm sure the issue expands outside of this region as well, but I'm keeping it close to home) regarding the minimal rental options for families with pets. I've been patrolling rental options regularly for over two years, and I have yet to find a suitable home rental that would allow for pets.

Mortgages are not an option for everyone right now with the insane inflation, interest rates and cost of homes. Two years of pandemic, railway closures, and war inflated the cost of being alive, and crippled the chances of so many hoping to achieve their goal of home ownership. 

Local shelters are bursting at the seams going in and out of intake freezes, there are more and more feral cats in the area, and there are so many people in situations like myself that simply cannot adopt or rehabilitate these animals due to restrictions on our rental homes. 

Any one who rents, and cannot own an animal, or cannot leave their current situation because of their animal, understands the struggle of trying to find a home that will accept their family as a whole; fur babies included. I know for myself, I would be more than happy to pay additional pet deposits, provide more thorough maintenance and cleaning in the home, and accept additional check-ins. I just want my family whole. 

Talk to anyone with pets AND children, they will tell you their children cause more destruction than any animal could. There cannot be restrictions of the admittance of small humans in homes, but there needs to be more acceptance of pets in the home as well. 

Vet check references, personal references, regular professional grooming...pet owners who take pride in their fur family would have no issues meeting these terms and then some. 

Someone needs to break the mold, create the changes - what a great investment for those who are able to invest! There's an entire community screaming for this, would be a very successful investment in my opinion.
