Hello dear video games, Nintendo and Mario fans. Let me tell you why more characters need to be included in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. On the 9th of february in 2022, a Nintendo Direct announced the Booster Course Pass in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, where 48 circuits will be released by the end of 2023, with some of them coming from Mario Kart Tour. However, no characters were announced, and that's disappointing.

 

In fact, the original Mario Kart 8 for Wii U had not only released new courses, but also new characters and vehicle parts. Alas, its port on the Nintendo Switch had only released 1 new character after its release so far : a Breath of the Wild skin of Link, and no other character else. If Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes tracks from Mario Kart Tour (wether they come from the 7 first Mario Kart or the app), then why not drivers?

So far, excluding skins, which are not treated as such, there are 5 returning characters (Diddy Kong and Birdo, who were playable in Mario Kart : Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii and so should be in 8 Deluxe like Dry Bones, Bowser Jr. and King Boo did, Funky Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. and Petey Piranha, who were only playable in Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart : Double Dash!!, respectively) and 10 new ones : Peachette, Pauline, Hammer Bro (who was scrapped from Mario Kart Wii), Monty Mole, Dixie Kong, Captain Toad, Nabbit, King Bob-omb, Kamek (scrapped from Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart 8) and Chargin' Chuck, in Mario Kart Tour.

If more characters were announced in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I think there'll be 3 possibilities :

 

-6 or 7 new characters : It would be cool if Nintendo adds Birdo, Diddy Kong, Petey Piranha, Funky Kong, Pauline, Hammer Bro and Kamek.

-12 new characters : All characters except Peachette, Captain Toad and Donkey Kong Jr. as it would be difficult to animate them in bikes and ATVs

 

-14 new characters : All characters except Captain Toad as many fans consider him as an alternative skin of Toad, because he shares the same animations and voice clips as him.

 

Why not also characters who have yet to be in Tour, as for tracks? Paratroopa, who is only playable in Double Dash, R.O.B. from Mario Kart DS, Honey Queen and Wiggler from Mario Kart 7 can join the roster, but it's you who decide.

 

To conclude, some of those arguments are why I think Nintendo should put more characters in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
