MoCo supports affordable housing (and some green space) at the old library

Compromise! We might get affordable housing AND green space at the old Silver Spring Library. This week, Montgomery County issued a "request for proposals" for developers who can build an apartment building with affordable units, a childcare facility, and some green space to connect to Ellsworth Park next door. Interested parties will have until February to send in their proposals. This is a big win for Silver Spring, which needs housing that people of all income levels can afford, and I'm glad our county leaders are standing up for it. That said, this isn't over. We need to keep the pressure on so that Montgomery County knows this is important to our community. Let the County Council and County Executive Ike Leggett know that you support affordable housing at the old Silver Spring Library.
