Montefiore CEO: reject the Executive Order on Immigration NOW

Montefiore CEO: reject the Executive Order on Immigration NOW
The Issue
To the President and CEO of Montefiore,
We, the undersigned, are writing to urge you to put out a public statement on behalf of the Montefiore community condemning the Executive Order on Immigration (EO). Furthermore, we ask you to provide free legal services to employees who may be affected by this EO.
Many of our colleagues are here on visas and permanent residency (green) cards. Some have obtained their green cards through the “exceptional ability” pathway – being recognized as people who could help this country significantly through their research and scholarly abilities. They care for one of the most underserved populations in the United States. They should be recognized and supported for their commitment to science, medicine and humanity. Instead, they are fearful of the personal and professional implications that the immoral and as most argue, illegal, EO will have on them and their families.
It is a time where we must speak out! It is too important to be quiet. This is not about politics, but about the value of human life and dignity. We must continue the Montefiore tradition to protect those who are being persecuted because of their ethnicity and religious beliefs.
As the President of this great institution, your message and actions will carry weight during this difficult time. REJECT the executive order. SUPPORT your employees.
