Since my last update, multiple states have made changes to their neonic laws. As of January 1st, 2025, pesticides with neonicotinoids are no longer available for sale in California for retail nurseries or garden centers. Colorado has prohibited homeowner use of neonicotinoid products. Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington have restricted homeowner/residential use of neonicotinoid products. New York has also enacted a ban on the use of neonicotinoid-treated seeds for corn, soybean, and wheat agricultural production. Nevada has banned neonicotinoid use in lawns and gardens.

This is only 12 out of 50 states in the US. That is only 24% of the country, and the chemicals aren’t even fully banned in all of these states. There is still work to be done! However, this is a start!
