Give D. Sarzinski His Name Back!

The Issue

Facebook forbid D. Sarzinski, a transgender guy from Sarajevo, Bosnia, from using the name all his friends and family know him by - D. - and forced him to use the name given to him on birth. This homophobic and repressive decision now makes D. chose between closing his account, which hosts all his memories from 2005, or agreeing to use the name he doesn't identify with - a decision which also goes against Facebook's own company rules ("The name you use should be the name your friends call you in real life and as our acceptable identification forms would show.", Facebook.com, 2016).

Let's make a stand together and have Facebook revert this decision and allow D. to retain his identity. He should be allowed to continue using the name he identifies with, and by which all his friends know him by. Facebook claims to support LGBT movement, and is happy to wave their corporate flag on Pride walks around the world, but when it comes to respecting people's human rights in practice - they seem as repressive as some of the most conservative governments.

The name one chooses for himself/herself is their own decision, certainly not Facebook's. They seem to disagree.

Please act now, and send a message to Monika Bickert, Facebook Global Policy Management, and ask her to reverse this decision: https://www.facebook.com/mbickert1

Dear Monica, I ask you to give D. Sarzinski (https://www.facebook.com/TheBoneGuru) his name back, and reverse the homophobic decision your community managers made by forcing him to use the name given to him on birth. Facebook won't listen unless we make some noise, so share this with your friends and let them know about Facebook's hypocrisy.
