Kia Ora, we are two intermediate school students from Whangarei.  We have been playing and umpiring netball for the majority of our lives. Recently, we have noticed that the amount of rugby fields and clubhouses is much greater than the number of courts in netball. Even though rugby and football have significantly more playing fields than us, their facilities continue to grow while netball court numbers remain the same and the netball centre has been the same for many, many years.  There are 10% of youth in New Zealand playing netball whereas 9% play rugby therefore it would seem reasonable that there should be more courts. The Whangarei Netball Centre relies on donations to pay their hard working staff and to keep the centre running. In 2021 Rugby received 9 million dollars we propose netball gets the same amount of money that rugby gets annually. Our first goal is to get this petition to the Whangarei district council and then to Parliament. Please sign our petition to help us raise more money for netball.
