Allow Home Grow for Maryland Medical Cannabis Patients

Allow Home Grow for Maryland Medical Cannabis Patients
The Issue
As of 2019, you can legally grow cannabis (with varied restrictions) in a number of states, plus Washington DC. As long as you meet the requirements to cultivate within these states, you’re free to grow your own. This does not include Maryland.
Most states allow for the cultivation of between 4-6 plants, although there are some stipulations in certain states that allow for larger plant counts. Many states that allow for home cultivation also provide stipulations allowing for for access points where you can pick up legal genetics such as seeds and clones to take home. Having control over a grow not only gives a grower the opportunity to personalize their own cultivation style, it affords a level of safety for those who want to take precautions in order to create a safe-to-consume product. Certain pesticides, fungicides, miticides, fertilizers, and other garden amendments may be harmful to someone with a compromised immune system.
Despite the argument that home cultivation would hurt dispensaries and overall commercial sales, Colorado made $266,529,637 in marijuana tax revenue in 2018, nearly quadruple the amount in 2014, while allowing for home growing that entire period.
Legal home growing can reduce mass incarceration, increases access in rural and disabled communities, is a step toward more sensible drug policy, and helps displace the black market.
Maryland Medical Cannabis Patients deserve the same freedoms as other state's, as well as Washington D.C. Which is completely surrounded by the state of Maryland.
