Rob Manfred continues to run baseball into the ground and not give any regard for the fans or players. He serves only to help the owners profit margins and the latest negotiation debacle between the owners and the MLBPA is proof of his ineptitude. A semi-competent commissioner would’ve been able to bring both sides to a mutual agreement in these negotiations but instead they fought over finances which will only lead to more ugly negotiations and a potential work stoppage down the road for the 2021 CBA.

Rob continues to actively harm America’s pastime in other ways too. The 2020 draft was only 5 rounds and while him and the owners will say it’s because of the pandemic, it’s very clear this was done in order to further their ends to cut minor league teams. By cutting minor league teams, less kids will be given the chance to play professionally and more will choose other sports instead. With less players to choose from the game will inevitably suffer down the road all for the owners to save a few bucks.

Rob has also been on record calling the World Series trophy a “piece of metal”. How can the “leader” of MLB have so little regard for its most important reward? The thing all players and fans dream of their team hoisting up in the air in the Fall Classic.

Under Rob’s leadership, the Houston Astros were found guilty of a cheating scandal of epic proportions and yet they were allowed to keep their World Series title. The loss of draft picks and suspensions of manager and GM were just a slap on the wrist. Rob clearly does not care to maintain the integrity of the game and did very little to deter other teams from cheating in the future. 

It has become quite clear that Rob Manfred is not only is unfit for this job, but has no love for the game of baseball. MLB deserves a leader who loves the game and is willing to place the interests of baseball, it’s players, and most importantly the fans at the front and center. It’s time to remove Manfred as commissioner.
