The Extension Has Been Granted; We've Now Got More Time!

Este Pueblo De Virgil
Los Angeles, CA, United States

Oct 13, 2018 —

Greetings All,

On this rainy Friday night in Los Angeles, it's a victory to report that the family at Super Pan has gotten an extension through December! Shortly after our meeting with George Hakopiants, the field representative for Mitch O'Farrell's office, a representative for the new owners of the property stopped by to talk again with the family and agreed to give them more time. Our petition was key in this happening!

However, the extension does not mean that the fight is over, but it does give both the family and our community more time to regroup and plan for next steps. To be sure, most of the families in the neighborhood who count on Super Pan for their bread and tamales do not yet know that the bakery will be leaving soon, so now it's on us to give them the news and also to let them know that we're supporting Super Pan for a leave with dignity and respect!

It's also on us to acknowledge each supporter of this petition and campaign overall; to every one of you out there who took the time to sign our petition and pass it on: WE THANK YOU! The work for lasting victories in our communities is long and filled with challenges, but it's driven again and again by a SHARED sense of community between us whether we're united in L.A., in California, across the country, or halfway across the globe!

We will have more updates in the days ahead, but for any comments or questions for our team in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us through this page, which will remain available through the next few months.

Thank you once again, and please trust that our community is not far as together we enter more battles ahead; whether in L.A., in California, across the country, or halway across the globe

We remain ONE HUMAN TEAM,

- Nuestro Pueblo de Virgil
