My name is Ebonie, I am a 36 year old mother of four. I have a 12 year old son who has ADHD( Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), Emotional Distress, and Intellectual Disability. He attends at one of the Chicago Public School. Over the past few months he has been physically and verbally bullied by the students in hid classroom. Since school started back in August, they have been picking on him, taking his lunch, threatening to beat him up and kill him. My son does not feel safe with attending school and he asked me every single day if he could stay home. My son informed several workers at the school such as the Dean, and the Teachers and his Special Ed Classroom Assistant Aide about this situation. My son received several text messages and voice threatening to beat him up in the bathroom. I have informed the principle and "showed" her proof of these messages and she keeps dismissing me. She refuse to de-escalate the problem.The principle has mentioned to me that if my son is replaced in a new classroom, his services(IEP) will stop. Every time I talk to the principal, the dean, or the Seca, i keep receiving mixed information. As a mother of a disabled child, I want my voice to be heard. It hurts me to witness my child running out of the school crying. My son does not feel safe attending school. I don’t feel safe sending him. Statics show this is a prime example of how our young Children are committing suicide. They get stressed out too. Please, let us make a difference by helping me sign the petition.
