NO JUSTICE. CASE CLOSED Punks who beat raccoons to death with baseball bats go unpunished
The Issue
**** FINAL UPDATE: Case is Closed. Missouri Department of Conservation and Putnam County Prosecutors Allow Crime to Go Unpunished. Perpetrators even allowed to continue to kill animals. See https://ahnow.org/blog/2021/11/18/putnam-county-missouri-a-long-way-from-justice/ for more information. ****
DEMAND JUSTICE for these raccoons: Please sign our petition!
Animal abuse is not a way to get more “likes”; it’s a crime.
A video published on TikTok has us at Animal Help Now (AHNow) up in arms. The footage shows two young men with baseball bats cornering and beating to death helpless raccoons – for the fun of it.
We’re working with law enforcement to ensure this video and photographic evidence results in the apprehension and full prosecution of everyone involved in the incident.
The incident itself likely occurred in Missouri, where it would be a violation (class E felony or class A misdemeanor) of state law.
The incident and the publication of the video recording of it violated federal law – both the Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act of 2010 (Obama administration) and the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (Trump administration). These laws prohibit both the obscene cruelty perpetrated by these youths and the publication of the video recording of it.
Animal cruelty is still often met with a slap on the wrist. "Boys will be boys," and all that. But acts of cruelty such as the one recorded and broadcast above not only involve the horrific deaths of animals, they also serve as harsh reminders that too many young men in US society are on paths that will lead to even more pain and suffering. Intentional cruelty to animals is strongly correlated with other crimes, including violence against people.
The young men who recorded or were otherwise involved with the incident above need to be punished for their cruel act, they need to have their hunting and fishing licenses revoked, and they need counseling to get them on a better path in life.
AHNow has solid leads in this case, which will be turned over to authorities when appropriate.
$500 REWARD for information leading to the identification of the two young men shown in the video. Email Tipline@AHNow.org or call (303) 900-8473. Your anonymity is guaranteed.

As of this writing (October 15, 2021), the young men in this incident have not been identified. We believe they will be soon, as will the location of the incident. Location information helps determine which law enforcement agency(ies) have jurisdiction. It is these agencies that will receive this petition.
