MISSING - A DOG PARK FOR LYNDHURST RESIDENTS & VISITORS

MISSING - A DOG PARK FOR LYNDHURST RESIDENTS & VISITORS
The issue
If you live, work or play in Marriott Waters Reserve, your nearest off-leash dog park is a 38 minute walk away* at Banjo Paterson Reserve.
City of Casey "acknowledge ... the need to create safe, accessible environments for all dogs."
Marriott Waters Reserve does not currently have a fully-fenced space with water for dogs. This affects dogs and their owners who live locally or visit the area, as well as community members who might be frightened of off-leash dogs across the reserve.
"For any future dog parks in our municipality, [City of Casey] will conduct community consultation to gather feedback on the proposed location prior to delivery" on the 'Casey Conversations' platform.
However, to get the idea added to the platform, first they need to see that there is unmet demand.
“Marriott Waters Reserve is not designated as an off-leash area for dogs. Currently there are no plans for new dog-friendly spaces or off-leash areas in Lyndhurst in the short-term, as we are focusing on funded dog park projects that have been identified as higher priorities. When prioritising locations for future dog-friendly spaces, we consider unmet demand.” – City of Casey, February 2025
