Misled and Trapped in Debt by Orogold Cosmetics — Help Us Demand Accountability
The Issue
QUICK OVERVIEW:
Shoppers across Ontario have been misled into high-interest loans and pressured into costly treatments at Orogold Cosmetics and its affiliated stores.
These stores are part of a larger international network operated under the Mazal Group umbrella, with several Ontario locations reported to be operated locally by The London Group.
We are calling for stronger consumer protection laws, better regulation of mall retailers, and an urgent investigation into unethical sales practices. ✊ Sign now to support those affected.
**These claims are supported by first-hand accounts, legal filings, and complaints submitted to provincial and federal agencies.
Although Orogold STC has since closed, the former retail location later reopened as Glo by Voupre, another skincare brand affiliated with the Mazal Group family of brands. This petition therefore addresses broader concerns about the business practices of the associated retail network, rather than a single store.

📌 Community awareness campaigns are underway.
“One woman experienced a miscarriage after using a skincare device sold in a mall — a device that was later found to carry warnings against use during pregnancy. Others were charged thousands for treatments they never received, or unknowingly signed high-interest loans.”
🧴 These stores lure shoppers in with “free samples” and apply emotional pressure to convince them to buy overpriced products and beauty devices. Shoppers have reported handing over ID or personal information believing it was for a promotion or receipt — only to later learn that their credit was accessed and financing was approved without clear explanation or consent.
Shoppers were sometimes asked to sign contracts on personal tablets, without receiving paper copies or clear explanations. Many only realized later that they had unknowingly agreed to high-interest financing through companies like LendCare — a third-party lender named in consumer complaints about unauthorized withdrawals and poor communication
⚠️ Some products carried undisclosed health risks, including devices unsafe for use during pregnancy. Several stores have since closed without refunding prepaid services, while others ignore consumer complaints entirely.
📣 Despite numerous complaints to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Protection Ontario, and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, these businesses continue to operate — often in busy malls where new customers are targeted every day.
📺 Media Coverage – Ongoing Consumer Concerns
Our concerns have been featured in past news segments like “Better Call Berken,” which covered similar Orogold sales tactics several years ago.
In May 2026, CBC News reported that a 76-year-old London senior said a visit to Royal Bee at White Oaks Mall (a company affiliated with the Orogold/Mazal Group family of brands) resulted in a $6,300 skincare financing agreement, with repayments exceeding $10,000 after interest. She alleged that she was subjected to high-pressure sales tactics and rushed through documents without the financing arrangement being clearly explained. Read the full CBC News article here.
🚨 Ontario Court Rules Against Orogold STC 🚨
On July 27, 2025, the Toronto Star published an investigative report examining sales practices at Orogold STC and its affiliated stores, The Soap Tree and Royal Bee. Numerous consumers described being pressured into purchasing expensive skincare products and financing agreements they later struggled to afford. Read the full investigative article here: PDF link
Since that investigation, one of those cases has proceeded through a full trial in the Ontario Small Claims Court.
The Court granted a partial judgment in favour of consumer Denise Gill, finding Orogold Cosmetics liable for negligent misrepresentation and unfair practices under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act. The Court found that the company engaged in unfair practices by leading the consumer into a loan with onerous terms that were not properly brought to her attention, and concluded that the conduct was unconscionable in the circumstances. The judgment is now part of the public legal record.
While every case depends on its own facts and evidence, this decision demonstrates that Ontario courts can recognize and remedy unfair business practices where the evidence supports those findings.
⚖️ Government Action in New Mexico
In August 2025, the New Mexico Attorney General secured a $350,000 consumer restitution settlement against Santa Fe Spa Center (also known as Voupre Spa), a business affiliated with Mazal Group, the parent company of Orogold, after alleging aggressive and deceptive sales practices. The settlement also requires reforms to the company's business practices and consumer disclosures.
💬 Consumer-reported red flags include:
❌ Numerous Better Business Bureau complaints
🧾 Reports of unauthorized credit checks
⭐ Allegations that customers were encouraged or incentivized to leave five-star reviews
💸 Complaints of services paid for but never received
🏦 Allegations of unauthorized withdrawals and unclear loan terms by third-party lender LendCare
🛑 Lack of transparency and follow-up
📢 We are demanding action:
✅ Regulation of mall kiosk and retail sales practices
✅ Transparent financing terms
✅ Clearer refund policies
✅ Investigation into harmful business conduct
This petition calls on consumer protection authorities to continue investigating these practices, to hold businesses accountable where appropriate, and to help protect consumers from experiencing similar harm.
