Major NPR Investigation Exposes Troubling Practices Across Mazal Group’s Skincare Network 🚨

Dear Supporters,
A major NPR investigation published October 14 has brought international attention to the consumer protection concerns at the heart of our campaign.
Over the course of a year, NPR interviewed more than 50 people affected by the business, including former employees, reviewed nearly 500 consumer complaints and hundreds of online reviews, examined court records, visited stores and travelled to Mazal Group’s California headquarters to seek answers.
The investigation uncovered deeply troubling findings:
Aggressive sales tactics: Consumers described being pressured into purchases costing thousands of dollars, sometimes after being kept in stores for hours.
Shocking charges and credit card concerns: Customers reported unauthorized or unexpectedly inflated charges, including cases in which a salesperson allegedly added an extra zero to a transaction.
Extraordinary product markups: Internal documents showed suggested retail prices as high as 130 times the wholesale price.
Questions about product ingredients: Independent laboratory testing commissioned by NPR found no detectable vitamin A or E in one tested Voupre product, despite both appearing on its ingredient list.
A network of interconnected brands: NPR examined how the family behind Mazal Group operates a portfolio of skincare brands, including Orogold Cosmetics, Voupre, Introstem and others.
Mazal Group and the family behind it have denied wrongdoing and maintain that retail locations are independently owned and operated. However, NPR obtained documents indicating that the company sets certain store policies, including refund policies, and plays a role in aspects of retail operations.
Why does this matter to Ontario consumers?
Our petition has raised concerns about Orogold Cosmetics and related mall skincare retailers, including sales practices, expensive purchases, financing and consumer accountability. This investigation makes the broader questions surrounding these businesses even more important to examine.
Consumers deserve transparent pricing, informed consent, fair treatment and meaningful avenues for redress when things go wrong.
