Petition updateMisled and Trapped in Debt by Orogold Cosmetics — Help Us Demand AccountabilityNew Reported Case Shows Issues Continuing Into 2026

Hello everyone,

A new Google review posted two weeks ago shows that these issues are still happening to date.

An international student reports being signed up for a LendCare financing agreement without clear explanation. She says the words “LendCare” or “loan” were never mentioned before she was asked to sign on a tablet. She only received the full contract after leaving the Orogold Cosmetics store where the transaction took place.

When she tried to cancel, she says she returned multiple times with a written cancellation letter, but staff refused to acknowledge it or take back the products. She eventually left the entire package, device, and her letter at the store and documented everything with photos and videos. She is now disputing the loan, saying she never knowingly agreed to it.

Her account reflects the same pattern reported by many people represented in this petition:

  • No clear disclosure of financing terms before signing
  • Loan documents discovered only afterward
  • Difficulty returning products, even when attempted immediately
  • Significant stress on newcomers, students, and seniors especially

These concerns echo what has been highlighted in multiple recent Toronto Star investigations, including two new articles published in late November and early December 2025 regarding LendCare, by reporters Frédérik Plante and Ana Pereira. Their reporting found recurring issues with point-of-sale loans affecting vulnerable consumers across Ontario. Together, these articles show that this is a wider, ongoing problem, not an isolated incident or a single store.

Given the number of public complaints and financing disputes raised over the last year, it is reasonable to expect that LendCare is aware of the recurring issues involving this retailer.

We are grateful to every person who has signed, shared, and supported this petition. Your voice is helping to bring attention to a consumer issue that is affecting communities across the province. 💛
