Jason Wong from Focus on the Family Singapore is trying to organise a webinar on "Transgenderism"[sic] on 27th Feb 2021, with a speaker named Quentin Van Meter, from a known American fringe hate group American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds). It is a designated hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center in the US and not to be confused with the legitimate organisation American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Quentin Van Meter's views on Transgender issues and healthcare are not legitimate, as he is not qualified to speak on these matters as deemed by a court of law in the United States. Focus on the Family Singapore seeks to affirm their bigoted views on Transgender issues and healthcare from the biased and unqualified opinions of Quentin Van Meter. 

I am writing to you to help urgently ask the Singapore Government and relevant authorities to issue an injunction to block this webinar from happening on the 27th of this month. This speaker is a radical Christian Fundamentalist that seeks to sow discord among members of Singaporean society through pseudoscience and disinformation.

We have seen the effects of such radicalisation on our youth, such as the Singaporean teenager who wanted to carry out mosque attacks. We cannot allow religion to be weaponised and used as a tool for hatred and discrimination against others who are different. We have seen the case of radical Christian Fundamentalist Lou Engle, when he came to speak at the Cornerstone Community Church in Singapore, where he espoused openly anti-Islamic views and deemed Islam a threat to Christianity.

Is this the road we want to head towards? Intolerance towards anyone who is of a different religion, sexuality or gender identity? We have to put a stop to the radicalisation of our youth. We cannot allow discrimination and intolerance to fester in our society. Say NO to such webinars or conferences held by religious fundamentalist groups like Focus On The Family that preach a gospel of hatred and division.
